Forum Presentation: Employees’ Mental Health and Organization’s Responsibilities
 
        There is a statistics of 2004, The annual loss caused by employee’s mental health issues was 305 billion dollars, which is more than 5 times of profit after tax in Fortune 500. In 1994, on the International Applied Psychology Conference, researches on Health Psychology exceeded Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and became the 2nd largest applied subject in the field of Psychology.

         First, I found out that many enterprises are tended to think about mental health after incidents have already occurred. Second, Chinese enterprises think a lecture can solve all problems; I attribute that to Chinese culture. As far as I am concern, it is not correct. I may give you a good example, balancing, we all understand that the physical theory is very simple, but none of us can do this. So back to first point, there is an important medical philosophy in ancient time that is nip in the bud.

        The statistics get from feedback shows that career development, interpersonal relationship, organizational atmosphere, work characteristics, are related stressors from work. A survey shows not all employees are able to cope with these issues properly, so some external support is needed.
